with mud soaked leaf hands
we greet the sodden sky
gulping mouthfuls
of drizzle cloud
from the road
down the driveway
water snakes and froths
its way to the contour ponds
brimming now
with new rain
and frogsong.

Bring us rain, warm rain.
ha ha – let us at least pretend we have seasons and that yesterday was cold and rainy – not just rainy. typed up my poem in gloves this morning because god help us it was 12 degrees and one could die in that bitter chill. we do toughen up as winter progresses. 😉
